Katy Kartwheel loves performing. At the end of March she
completed a 10 week course in aerial acrobatics (trapeze,
silks, rope, aerial hoop) and performance!
Some of her fellow students (pictured on
the left) will be in the contemporary circus show that Katy is
organising: The Urban Circus Show.
The video
opposite shows Katy Kartwheel performing Hula-hoops at WAMA in
High Wycombe. Katy trains at least 3 times a week and learns
everything from watching clips on youtube, trying out her own
ideas using acrobatics and also from others who do 'hooping'.
She also uses the knowledge of circus performance she has
gained over the years.
Katy has performed recently at many
events/venues large and small including: The Marlow Rotary
Club, Hope in the Park, Rhythms of the World Festival, Rose
Carnival, the Proud Cabaret (London), WAMA, West Wycombe Fete,
Lane End fete and Beaconsfield High School.
Katy constantly makes up new routines
and improves old ones. These are upbeat routines that blow the

Because Katy has been dedicated to the circus for 12
years, she has built up many skills and uses a variety of circus equipment
- not just hula-hoop!. These are: The TIGHT WIRE!!! TRAPEZE!!! AERIAL
SILKS!!! For some reason she can still only juggle 4 balls despite years
of practice! So it is true that there is a skill waiting for anyone to
master but maybe it is not possible to master them all? But then again,
anything is possible!

Katy also does fire performance with fire poi and
fire hoop. She works closely with a group of local circus performers and
together they have become "Children of Prometheus (COP)" Circus
